Sister Tattoos

There is no creature quite like a sister. They are bratty, rude, greedy, crybabies, and completely unaware of their silly choices in life. But they are also wonderful people who you can depend on for your whole life, who you can’t stay mad at for more than one day, and who can send you cat pictures when you need them most. As an elder sister, I can’t imagine living life without my younger sister. She’s an amazing person, and I want her to achieve her dreams.

Tattoos are a way of cementing the bond between sisters for life. I mean, it’s not like you can escape from your sister anyways, in this digital age. You might as well commemorate your awesome relative with some sister tattoos. We’ll be talking about matching sister tattoos, as well as sister symbols that have persevered throughout the years. We’ll also give a little advice on finding some quotes that suit sisters!

Matching Sister Tattoos

When getting a tattoo with your sister, of course you would consider matching tattoos first! If you get complementing tattoos, other people will take note that another ‘half’ is missing, and you can then take the opportunity to brag about how awesome your sister is. If you get tattoos that are a perfect match, you get to essentially carry around a bit of your sister with you wherever you go. There are tons of different matching designs to choose from, so be sure to look at the full gallery below to gather some inspiration.

Sister Symbol Tattoos

The heart is a symbol of love, and the infinity sign is a symbol of eternity. By combining the two, you get to the core of sisterhood. No matter the tribulations you face, your sister will always be there for you, and you will be there for them. There’s no secret you can hide and no trouble you can’t share with each other. There is actually a symbol dedicated to sisters, much like the infinity sign and the heart signs have their own meaning. It is a three-pronged celtic knot, with three spirals blooming from the center. It represents the unification of siblings—the perfect tattoo for sisters. The blooming spirals can be replaced with a heart and retain the same meaning.

Sister Tattoos Quotes

Without a doubt, Proverbs 3:15 is the best way to describe a sister. From the NIV, “She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” The quote is actually talking about wisdom, but there’s always room for interpretation, especially in a book of the bible dedicated to poetry and quotes! If you’re interested in looking into quotes, I recommend using sites made for just such a task, such as Brainyquotes and Quotegarden! You can also check out our article on picking quotes, which will give more specific directions and help you narrow down your choices.

While brainstorming ideas with your sister, be sure to pick something that represents the two of you. If you both love sunflowers, then disregard everything here and get a sunflower tattoo together! If you both have a favorite quote that has nothing to do with sisterhood, get it inked anyways! Sister tattoos don’t have to shout that you have a sister—they just have to represent your special bond with each other.
